gUiLLeMoTs

First start listening:
Made Up Love Song 43 (yousendit)
Who Left The Lights Off Baby (yousendit)

Is it possible to have a heterosexual crush on a british band I have never seen and don't really know that much about? Well I guess if I have to be gay for a band than with a name like the gUiLLeMoTs I can't really go wrong.

It kills me to write this cause I know how you will take it, but his band reminds me most of Arcade Fire. What really excited me about them and their songs is the energy that comes through that makes me in turn feel adrenalized. They don't sound like arcade fire accept for a few moments of chaos and screaming, but both bands get the blood flowing in that same way. Just listen to the trumpets and thermins and screaming and, is that a vibraphone layered deep in the background?

This week was the British Release of their single 'Trains To Brazil' which can be heard on their myspace page along with the eclectic Made Up Love Song 43

Here is what my childhoodbestfriends lil sis had to say, I think she summed it up better than I ever will:

"so this band reminded me of "Wolf Parade"..... What is that sound? It's kind of free, like if rock & roll was now....the free sounds of Arcade Fire and these Guillemots myspace people....and Wolf Parade and Clap Your Hands....they seem to make this full bandy music with bells and horns and chellos and it's up beat, but emotional....and they keep this rawness about it and give it a little akwardness to keep the rad in with out tipping over to obvious....yeah...I think that makes perfect sense.....don't you? ;-)

that's the new formula of our generation.....a mish-mosh of hope and fear and bells and horns and akward voices...."

Also check out their myspace page for some awesoemness!

Lindsay Lohan covering
Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me" (yousendit)

This sounds like a really awful attempt at a kareoke version of cheap trick. I guess everyone knows that this album is nothing more than a publicity stunt, but they could have put some effort into it. After listening, I wouldn't have complained if she had pulled a mili vanili and just put out a good record. Ah the trainwreck of a young starlets life. It's too horrifying not to listen. I especially loath the odd percussion and whoever produced the break down in the middle should be banned from using pro tools ever again. Enjoy!

UPDATE: ABC News Headline "Lohan Gets Introspective on Follow-Up CD" You have got to be kidding me.

Each week, we here at fansite... recieve hundreds of emails and secret admirer letters and we try to answer them all, so if you haven't recieved a response, keep writing, we will get back to you.

Over the course of the past few years, a theme in your letters has become totally apparent. Everyone wants to know where all the great Missouri bands are hiding and why don't they get more exposure on the new york based music sites?

Today I present Tapes 'n Tapes for your listening pleasure!

From the opening rifts of Insistor (right click and save as), the first single off their 2005 album Loon, you can't help but get caught up in the organic mix of blues rock riffs reminiscent of ryan adams and the shout out louds, and and indie scream singing reminiscent of arcade fire and talking heads. I dunno but I'm suprised these guys haven't recieved more exposure.

There is something infectious about the voice when he sings "I made a better lover with your mother" that just makes me want to push the repeat button on the cd player.

I can't wait for these guys to get their asses out to New York for a show. Unless someone wants to go to Missouri? No?

Also check out Cowbell (right click and save as)

Enjoy!
